Job Description

Attached is a copy of your job description (JD# xxxxxx). your supervisor will schedule a meeting to review and sign your job description within the first 30-days of employment. A signed copy should be forwarded to hrstudentlife@ucsd.edu for placement your electronic personnel file.

 

 

Mandatory Trainings

  • UC Cyber Security Awareness – complete within 3-days of hire,  e-course ~55mins; refresher ~35mins
  • General Compliance Briefing: UC Ethical Values and Conduct – complete within 7 days of hire, e-course ~35mins
  • UC Sexual Violence & Sexual Harassment Prevention (for Supervisors) – complete within 7 days of hire biennial e-course ~55mins (this training is currently unavailable; employees will be prompted to take the training when the new training becomes available)
  • UC Managing Implicit Bias Training, complete within 14 days, e course ~28 minutes (VCSA requirement)
  • Injury and Illness Prevention Program –  enroll within 30 days of hire, complete within 90 days of hire; classroom ~75mins

Student Life reports time and attendance through Kronos . Biweekly timesheets are due at 10a.m. on the Monday following the end of each BW pay-period. The most recent biweekly pay-period  was Saturday, 9/17 (pp 9/4 – 9/17). , which means timesheets are due at 10 a.m. on Monday, 9/19. However, in light of your recent hire, SLHR will be processing special checks for you -  the first will be for 9/1 & 9/2. The second will be for the last two weeks, which will pay next Wednesday, 9/28, the regularly scheduled pay date.  In the future, you will be entering your time in Kronos, the next deadline will be Saturday, 10/1, which means your timesheet will need to be completed and approved by you no later than 10am on Monday, 10/3.  

 

Kronos will send an email reminder when the timesheet deadline is approaching. For reference I will be your time approver and timekeeper. Please refer to the UCSD Payroll Calendars for pay-periods, pay-dates, and observed holidays.

Benefits

You may review all of your benefit options on UCNet. Enrollment will be done through UCPath. Please note, you have 31 days to sign up for benefits.

UCnet Compensation and Benefits  Please note that your hire date is retroactive to September 1st. This means you must select your benefits by October 2nd to be sure your Period of Eligibility (PIE) doesn’t close. Please check UCPath, the PIE deadline date is listed there.    

 

Benefits Orientation 

The Benefits Orientation is offered via Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to inform eligible faculty and staff about university health, welfare and retirement plans. I would encourage you to attend. It’s helpful to be able to ask questions before you make your enrollment decisions. New employees can register for Benefits Orientation via the UC Learning Center

Campus ID Card  

The Campus Cards Office is currently operating by appointment ONLY on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please follow the steps below to request an ID card. 

  1. Email campuscards@ucsd.edu to request an ID card. Campus Card form.
    2.) Campus Cards staff will inform you what we need in order to process your request.
    3.) Campus Cards staff will provide you with a link to set up an appointment with our office. 

 

 

Parking permits, prices, rules, services, lots, and commuting/ rideshare options

To buy a parking permit, you need your employee ID number or your offer letter from your department verifying your employment. If your ID number is not ready, you may buy a daily permit at the information booths or parking office (map).

Newly hired employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or have an approved exception, per UC policy.
