2023-24 Staff Performance Evaluations (SPA) – important dates

 

 Dear Student Life Career Staff,

 It's that time of the year again - the performance evaluation period for the 2023-24 year is here! We want to ensure a smooth process for everyone involved, so please take note of the following dates and guidelines:

 Accessing the Performance Appraisal Tool:

  • The online Performance Appraisal tool is now open for Policy Covered staff (non-union).
  • Access the tool through the Student Life Business Office website under the Human Resources tab.
  • If you encounter any difficulties accessing your evaluation in the SPA tool, it might be due to your last evaluation not being completely closed out. First check to see if you need to sign a prior year’s appraisal and then inform me and your supervisor if you experience any issues.

Timeline for Performance Evaluations:

 

 Non-Represented (Policy Covered) Employees:

  • Evaluation Period: May 1st - April 30th
  • April 30th: Self-appraisals due (confirm with your supervisor)
  • June 7th: Evaluations due - delivered to employee and signed by supervisor

 Represented (CX, K6, SX, TX) Employees:

  • Evaluation Period: July 1st - June 30th
  • June 30th: Self-appraisals due (confirm with your supervisor)
  • July 31st: Evaluations due - delivered to employee and signed by supervisor

 Guidance for Employees:

  • Begin writing a detailed self-appraisal to aid your supervisor in reflecting on your work.
  • Even if you choose not to provide a self-appraisal, click the FINALIZE button to complete the process.

 Guidance for Supervisors:

  • Schedule meetings with individual staff members to deliver evaluations.
  • Utilize the Supervisor Quick-Reference-Guide for assistance.
  • Familiarize yourself with campus concepts for ongoing conversations using the Manager-Notes resource.
  • Ensure the appraisal moves through the necessary stages from Post Review to Discussion and from Discussion to Prep for Signature.
  • Note the new requirement for Assigned Training Verification starting in 2023. Supervisors must review employee training compliance before moving appraisals to HR Review.
